When Kim volunteered to join the Aussie Hay Runners convoy, she didn’t do it for praise. She did it because someone needed help. A simple choice that reflects the character of our people at BildGroup.
Standing up when it matters
On 17 January, Kim and her partner, joined more than 100 utes with trailers, four semis and the Bitu-mill float to deliver 296 round bales and 245 square bales of hay to farmers affected by the Longwood fires. The convoy travelled from Seville along the Warburton, Maroondah and Melba Highways, up through Yea, towards Seymour and onto the Hume Freeway, all under police escort.
Going further for those who need it
After the first delivery was unloaded, the Bitu-mill float was reloaded for a second run. Kim secured permission to take the float past the roadblocks into Terip Terip, right into the heart of the devastation, ensuring hay reached those who needed it most.
Seeing the damage first-hand stayed with her.
“Seeing the damage firsthand was a real eye-opener. It’s far worse than words can describe. The time and effort people are putting into helping these communities right now is truly incredible and it truly was an honour to help out in any way I could.”
This is what our purpose, to help fulfil the potential of our people and our communities, looks like in real life. It’s not something that exists only in policies or presentations. It shows itself in moments like this, when someone decides to step forward and help.
A community effort that makes a real difference
Aussie Hay Runners is built on genuine giving. Every dollar donated goes straight to buying hay, not admin costs, travel expenses or overheads. It goes where it’s needed, when it’s needed.
And Kim wasn’t the only one who volunteered. Kenny and Paul also joined the convoy with their utes and trailers to help transport hay bales.
These efforts remind us that community support isn’t about big statements. It’s about practical help, given willingly and without fuss.
A Culture grounded in humility and heart
We don’t share these stories to boast. That’s not who we are. We share them because they show the kind of culture we build at BildGroup: one where people look out for each other, where community matters, and where our purpose is lived through real actions.
Kim, Kenny and Paul showed what it means to be part of something bigger. Not through words, but through genuine, grounded contribution. Their efforts reflect the best of who we are.
