Main runway and taxiways overlay project

Bitu-mill’s South Australian profiling team undertook the significant task of completing asphalt profiling for Adelaide Airport’s Main Runway and Taxiways Overlay Project (MRTOP). The project involved 3 kilometres of asphalt profiling on the main runway and an additional 3.6 kilometres on the adjacent taxiway network. To meet the tight time constraints, the team deployed four Wirtgen profilers to ensure the project was delivered on schedule.

This major upgrade will enhance the safety and serviceability of aircraft operations at Adelaide Airport. The improved runway and taxiways will facilitate smoother and more efficient handling of flights, benefiting airlines, passengers, and airport staff alike. Additionally, the project underscores the airport’s commitment to maintaining high standards of infrastructure, supporting the local economy, and ensuring Adelaide remains a hub for domestic and international travel.
