Altona Tennis Club

New and improved tennis courts for club players and visitors

BildGroup’s sports fields and surfaces team had the fantastic opportunity to collaborate with our client on upgrading the Altona Tennis Club. This venture aimed to provide the club and community with a high-performing tennis facility to enjoy for years to come.

The project was to be constructed in two stages. In Stage 1, we constructed five synthetic grass tennis courts, which were to be surfaced in FieldTurf’s innovative Classic Clay product. This unique surface closely replicates the natural clay court experience for players. Stage 2 saw the construction of an additional six en-tout-cas courts, further expanding the club’s capacity and offerings. In both cases, the courts were completed to the highest standards required for competition tennis.

Our work wasn’t just limited to the courts. We also took care of essential infrastructure, including fencing, lighting, drainage, and other ancillary works. Overall, we installed 2,829m² of synthetic pavement, 346 metres of new fencing, 1,013 metres of new drainage, and 2,750m² of concrete pavement works.

A major component of this project was the tennis club remaining operational for the entirety of our works. Carefully working with key stakeholders, we planned and coordinated construction works to minimise the impact on this highly utilised facility.

With a total budget of $2.5 million, we completed the project in May 2022, right on schedule. Altona and surrounding communities can now enjoy the new and improved Altona Tennis Club amenities for years to come.
