Millimetre perfection

Bitu-mill successfully completed a significant project at Cairns Airport, involving the milling of approximately 31,500 square metres of undulating runway and taxiway pavement to design specifications. Our approach was both innovative and safety-focused. We utilised Australia’s only enclosed cabin milling machine, providing our operators with a filtered and ventilated environment for their safety and comfort.

Our in-house Surveying Team and skilled machine operators expertly managed advanced 3D machine control systems. Precision was crucial to meet the stringent millimetre tolerances required for airport standards. At the end of each shift, our teams conducted thorough level conformance reports to ensure the milled surfaces met all specifications.
