BildGroup was proud to work with our client to deliver the Girgarre-Rushworth Bridge replacement project.
The old bridge, built in 1977, had seen better days. Its condition was declining, and the load limit was reduced to 42.5 tonnes, causing a lot of inconvenience. The new bridge changed all that. Now, heavy vehicles over 42.5 tonnes can use the bridge again, making journeys smoother and safer for everyone, including the local Fonterra cheese processing plant in Stanhope, a major dairy company in the region.
Our work involved demolishing the old bridge, constructing new bridge abutments and the bridge deck, installing safety barriers, and building new road pavement. We also carried out bulk earthworks and road reconstruction, ensuring the new bridge and roads met VicRoads specifications.
Working in and around a live waterway posed challenges, but we’re proud to say we completed the project with zero environmental incidents or impacts. And safety was our top priority—we finished with zero safety incidents.
This project is a shining example of our dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure that makes a real difference in the community.
This $4.3 million project was completed in October 2023.
