Connecting communities

BildGroup was excited to help our client turn a 30-year dream of connecting Knoxfield to Rowville into reality by constructing a beautiful four-span curved bridge on Henderson Road.

This project was incredibly special to us; it wasn’t just about building a bridge—it was about connecting communities and fulfilling a long-held vision. Our Project Manager put enormous effort into maintaining open and honest communication with Knox Council and everyone involved. We ensured all stakeholders could get in touch at any time with questions or concerns, ensuring everyone felt heard and included.

The bridge is a marvel of engineering, featuring 35 piles with 28 pre-cast beams, a three-barrel culvert bridge, a pedestrian underpass tunnel, and two fauna crossings. Built to the highest VicRoads engineering and quality standards, this structure is a testament to our commitment to excellence.

We also focused on sustainability throughout the project. We minimised the movement of soil, rock, and mulch to and from the site. Removed trees were mulched on-site, extracted rocks were used in benches, and excavated soil was stockpiled and reused. This careful planning helped us reduce our environmental impact.

One of the highlights was the installation of solar-powered lighting for the pedestrian underpass, ensuring safety and sustainability. Our accurate planning and execution, especially during the beam-lifting process, were crucial to the project’s success.

This project is more than just a bridge—it’s a link that brings people together and improves daily life for everyone in the community.

This $4.3 million project was completed in October 2019.
