BildGroup’s sports fields and surfaces team was proud to deliver Pitch 2 at The Home of The Matildas, located at La Trobe University’s Bundoora campus. A world-class synthetic football field designed to meet the highest standards of play, safety, and resilience. This new facility forms part of Australia’s premier training hub for elite women’s football.

We undertook extensive cut-and-fill earthworks, including the removal of unsuitable wet material from a former sediment pond and intrusive basalt rock formations.

Key project features:

• Synthetic turf area: 8,973m²
• Surface system: FieldTurf RGF XM7 with ProPlay Sport20H shock pad
• Drainage: French swale system, geomembrane waterproofing, and aggregate layer
• Amenities: Technical area and player shelters, full-sized semi-permanent goals, and portable junior goals

This pitch delivers the performance characteristics of a pristine natural surface while ensuring optimal safety, energy return, and durability, making it a fitting addition to the national training base for Australia’s elite women’s footballers.
