JL Murphy Reserve Redevelopment

Upgraded dual-pitch facility for the community

JL Murphy Reserve has long been a vital sporting hub for the Port Phillip community. BildGroup’s sports field and surfaces team was engaged to deliver a major upgrade that would elevate the precinct’s functionality and appeal.

Working in partnership with our client, we constructed two new football pitches; one natural grass and one synthetic turf, each built to meet FIFA and Australian Standards. The natural turf surface spans 7,090m², while the synthetic pitch covers 7,120m², offering versatility for players and clubs across the region.

Key project features:

• 13,858m2 of excavation and earthworks
• 5,761 tonnes of crushed rock pavement
• 1,058m2 concrete paving laid
• Eight 25-metre-high light poles with LED Luminaries
• 797 metres of drainage
• 506 metres of fencing

Additional works included ground stabilisation, installation of a welded geomembrane, concrete footpaths, drainage cells, and new fully automated irrigation system. Sporting amenities including AFL and football goals, player shelters and line marking. Completing the new facility were new tree plantings and minor landscaping works.

The result is a revitalised reserve that enhances the sporting experience and supports long-term community use.
