Montrose Intersection Upgrade

Making journeys safer and smoother for Montrose locals

BildGroup’s infrastructure team was engaged by our client to transform the Montrose roundabout into a modern intersection with traffic lights, additional lanes, and dedicated turning lanes. The upgrade was designed to ease congestion during peak periods and provide safer pedestrian crossings for locals accessing the Montrose township.

The scope included constructing two signalised intersections, a pedestrian crossing with public lighting, relocating high-voltage power underground, and installing seven new bus stops. Water-sensitive urban design and soft landscaping were incorporated to enhance the area’s amenity. Throughout the project, the team worked closely with asset providers and local stakeholders, tailoring engagement to meet the unique needs of residents and traders.

Complex traffic staging and temporary signals kept traffic flowing and work areas safe, while careful planning minimised disruption during road closures. Weekly meetings with the client ensured progress on critical issues, and innovative approaches to staging delivered quality outcomes. The Montrose Intersection Upgrade has improved safety, accessibility, and connectivity for the community, making daily journeys smoother and supporting local businesses during the works.
