Runway and taxiway upgrade enhances airports infrastructure

Our team was proud to work with our client on an essential project for Norfolk Island Airport. We were responsible for the runway and taxiway upgrades, as well as the excavation of the runway apron. The works involved texturing 160,000 square metres of surface and removing 50,000 square metres of ramps and key-ins. The construction of a new groin in Ball Bay allowed us to unload 50,000 tonnes of aggregate and equipment needed for the project.

The project was logistically challenging, but our commitment to collaborative work practices and a positive attitude ensured its success. We adhered to tight specifications, stringent safety standards, and delivered the project ahead of schedule. Additionally, we focused on sustainability by recycling materials whenever possible. The project, valued at $2.26 million, was completed in August 2020, earning us repeat business from the client and benefiting the Norfolk Island community by enhancing their airport infrastructure.
