In the heart of Melbourne’s bustling maritime precinct, BildGroup partnered with our client to deliver a suite of road reconstruction and asset upgrades. The Port, Australia’s largest gateway for containerised and automotive cargo, relies on seamless transport links to keep goods moving day and night. Recognising the importance of these connections, BildGroup’s infrastructure team took on the challenge of upgrading traffic signals, pavements, and stormwater drainage across key access routes servicing the container terminals.

The works focused on Appleton Dock Road, Coode Road, Mackenzie Road, and Anderson Road; arteries that see thousands of container movements daily. To keep the port’s operations running smoothly, construction was staged with precision, including a weekend occupation that saw four continuous shifts working back-to-back. New traffic signal infrastructure, extensive line marking, and signage upgrades were installed, alongside the removal and reconstruction of asphalt pavements and drainage systems.

The result is a safer, more efficient road network, ready for immediate use and delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. By working under live operational conditions, we demonstrated a commitment to minimising disruption and supporting the port’s vital role in the national supply chain. The project stands as a testament to thoughtful planning and collaboration, ensuring Melbourne’s maritime gateway remains open and accessible for the community and businesses that rely on it.
