Bustling commercial hub for Melton residents

BildGroup was privileged to work with our clients to develop the West Pines Industrial Estate, a project designed to support commercial, retail, and industrial tenants in a thriving and diverse growth area. Our team executed a significant industrial subdivision, seamlessly integrating it with a wetland and beautifully landscaped streetscapes.

Throughout the project, we maintained a keen awareness of the high-traffic surroundings, ensuring that the ongoing construction did not negatively impact the adjacent freeway. Our efficient systems, collaborative approach, and commitment to delivery excellence resulted in substantial time and cost savings for all stakeholders, fostering a lasting relationship.

The project involved extensive bulk earthworks, including:

• 96,000 cubic metres of cut and 70,000 cubic metres of fill;
• over 10 km of utilities (including sewer, drainage, water mains, etc.);
• new road pavements featuring 50,000 square metres of deep-lift asphalt and 8,000 square metres of concrete laneway;
• installation of electrical and telecommunications assets in compliance with AS3000 electrical work standards and the VBA plumbing code for water and sewer services;
• over 170,000 cubic metres of earthworks;
• more than 3,600 linear metres of drainage;
• 5,000 linear metres of new kerbing; and
• 12,000 square metres of new paths.

One of the key accomplishments was the large-scale remediation of unsuitable soil, which, through a blending process, saved significant time and costs. We completed the project two months ahead of schedule by effectively managing multiple subcontractors and coordinating with both authority works and private domestic authorities. Our proactive environmental controls ensured that the management of the 142,000-square-metre site met all regulatory requirements.

Our collaboration with the client and civil consultant allowed us to adapt to an evolving design during construction, minimising final costs. We also worked closely with a project archaeologist and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives to ensure compliance with the Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP).

This $25 million project was completed in 2024, providing a robust foundation for future commercial success in the Melton community.
