BildGroup has long recognised that great leadership is essential to a high-performing, positive workplace. In 2024, the business launched the Bild Leadership Program, a nationally recognised initiative designed to develop the next generation of leaders across the company.

Developed in partnership with HFL Leadership, the program offers a practical, hands-on learning experience tailored specifically to the needs of BildGroup’s people. Its purpose is to build confidence and capability in frontline leaders, helping them lead by example, bring out the best in others, and build teams that thrive.

Program overview

Each year, 15 participants from across the business are selected to take part in the program through a robust nomination process. The program runs over four quarterly face-to-face workshops, supported by practical activities in between to help embed learning and apply it in real time.

Throughout the journey, participants are guided through a range of important leadership topics and skills. These include developing a strong leadership brand, setting clear performance expectations, coaching and developing others, and communicating effectively. They also explore how to lead through change, delegate responsibilities, manage priorities, and hold courageous conversations. Emotional intelligence, inclusive leadership, and managing upwards are also key components, equipping participants with the tools they need to lead with confidence, clarity, and compassion. For many, the program becomes a defining step in their leadership journey and an important milestone in their career development.

“At BildGroup, we don’t just talk about leadership—we invest in it. This program is our way of showing belief in our people and giving them the support, skills and confidence they need to grow, succeed and make their mark. It’s been incredible to see the transformation in our first cohort of participants.”

Creating real connections and business impact

The program is more than a development opportunity, it is a business-wide strategy to grow capability and create alignment. Participants gain a stronger understanding of the business, with access to senior leaders through guest panels. The cross-functional nature of the cohort also helps break down silos and foster collaboration, leading to new ideas and better ways of working.

As a silo-busting and innovation-driving initiative, the program encourages participants to take what they’ve learned and apply it immediately in their teams. It also serves as a powerful communication channel for strategy, giving influential leaders a clearer understanding of the company’s direction and values.

“The program was designed to reflect the real challenges and opportunities of frontline leadership. We focused on building practical skills, but also creating space for connection and shared learning. The result is a cohort that’s not only equipped, but more connected to each other and the business”, said Program Manager, Mikaela Saputro, HFL Leadership.

To ensure the best outcomes, sponsoring managers are involved throughout the journey, supporting their team members’ development and strengthening succession planning within their teams.

“Remember – we are leaders in all aspects of our lives. Never underestimate the impact we have on others. Our role as leaders is to set a safe space to develop all around us to reach their full potential. Hearts and Minds. A philosophy that BildGroup adhere to.”
– Program Facilitator & Coach, Greg Holland-King, HFL Leadership

Building a stronger future

The Bild Leadership Program reflects BildGroup’s commitment to help fulfill the potential of their people in a place that inspires them to bring their best and supports their journey every step of the way. With the second cohort already underway, the company continues to invest in developing confident, capable, and connected leaders, setting the foundation for long-term success.

One 2024 participant shared how powerful it was to be part of a group of colleagues going through similar transitions into leadership. “To be able to understand some of the other members’ challenges and approach them as a collective was really useful,” they said. This sense of shared experience and support is at the heart of the program, creating a network of leaders who not only develop their own skills but help lift each other up along the way.
