Community outreach and involvement is another way BildGroup works to fulfil the potential of our local community, so we were very proud to support local football and netball club, Hampton Hammers, with their new Indigenous designed football guernsey.
Jake Chitty, our Environment and Sustainability Manager, has been part of the club for over ten years, starting out as a player and now a committee member. We’ve been supporting Jake since he joined the club, and have been privileged to see his knack for leadership flourish on and off the sport field, moving from player into the role of Secretary, Social Media Manager and Netball Coordinator. BildGroup CEO Stephen Hill is a longtime local Bayside resident and local, and after seeing the team was doing it tough, wanted to support the Hampton Hammers, because like so many local clubs, it’s the lifeblood of their community.

Recently, we had the honour in helping the Hammers with the design and purchase of a new football guernsey for the 56 members of the senior men’s teams. The designs were created by First Nations owned design group Liwik Yiyah Consulting, and it’s the first time the Hampton Hammers will run onto the field with an Indigenous design. Aligning with the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the guernseys act as recognition and celebration of First Nations players and culture. The pattern on the guernseys includes wave lines representing The Birrarung (the Yarra River), which references the meeting places of all the people from different backgrounds coming together to play footy as the Hammers. The traditional stone axe in the design plays on the word “hammer”, reinforcing the overall messaging behind the uniform, which is all about coming together as one club and one mob on the field and off.
Sponsorships are key to the stability and structure of local football clubs. We are able to provide clubs with a foundation they can build on, which allows them to not just pay the bills, but also improve the game day experience and playing conditions for their players. The Hampton Hammers is just one of the many sporting groups that BildGroup actively supports, and we can’t wait to continue watching them fulfil their potential.
